WebsiteFernando is currently working towards his PhD in Computing Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP). He graduated from the State University of Campinas in 2004 with a degree in Computer Science, and gained his Master's in Informatics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2016. His research area is in the application of artificial intelligence for planning actions in dengue control. He has used his background in computer science to work as a data scientist in the following subjects: Planetary Health, biodiversity, water resources and social networks. A transformative moment in his career was when he worked with biodiversity in a project supported by UN Environment, and his hope is to use his time as a PHCA to promote actions and to engage more people in the subject of Planetary Health.
