Emanuel is based in Brazil, and is currently in his third year of med school at Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS.) His focus is in obstetrics and gynecology, and he is currently the coordinator of the OBGYN academic league at UCS. He’s been interested in Planetary Health since his first semester at UCS, when he took a class on the subject. After taking the course, he worked with his professor and some classmates to found the Southern Brazilian Planetary Health Club (SBPHC), the first PH club in South America assigned to the PHA. The club has been involved in research on the UCS campus, and their first project was presented as a poster at the 2019 Planetary Health Annual Meeting. Currently, he is working with the club to locate possibilities and opportunities for representation outside of his university, so that the club can grow.
